Itinerary

Day 1

MARRAKESH

 
TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Transfer to the hotel. Kalesa ride. Dinner included. Welcome to Marrakech!!!. On arrival at the airport we shall be waiting to transfer you to the hotel. You can enjoy free time until your tour starts, information about the meeting place and start time can be found on the information boards in the hotel reception area. At the end of the afternoon you will be able to experience a traditional Kalesa ride up to the famous Djema square. Dinner buffet included. Hotel accommodation.

Day 2

MARRAKESH

 

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Guided city tour. Admission fees and lunch included. We will start the day with a guided tour of the city which gave the country its name. We will get to know the great walls of the city, the bustling Jemaa square, walk through the colorful Medina and see the Kutubia tower. We will visit to the Bahia Palace (ticket included). Lunch included. We sill have some free time to relax at the pool or discover a famous Mar­rakech Souk (local market). In the evening, you can experience a Fantasia dinner and cultural show (optional).

 

Day 3

MARRAKESH - AIT BENHADOU - OUARZAZATE - BOUMALNE DADES

 

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Scenic landscapes. Visit a village built with adobe. Buffet dinner included. We will journey across the Atlas Mountains as their, usually snow-capped, high peaks will greet us as we say goodbye to Marrakech. Small Berber villages perch on the side of chasms. We will interrupt our journey to stop at the fortified village of AIT BENHADDOU, a place where several films have been filmed. At this point in our trip, our route will be going through the so-called biblical landscapes. We will spend some time in OUARZAZATE city with its impressive Kasbah. We will continue toward the valley of Roses. BOULMANE DADES. Dinner and accommodation. NOTE: On very rare occasions (during winter), the roads may be closed due to snowdrifts. If necessary, this section of the itinerary will be resched­uled according to our alternative itinerary. (Whether we can visit the Sahara or not will depends on road access).

 

Day 4

BOUMALNE DADES - TODRA - ERFOUD

 

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Beautiful scenery. Canyon in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains. Visit a TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Beautiful scenery. Canyon in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains. Visit a village built with adobe. Buf­fet lunch included. Feel the adrenaline on an off-road excursion of the de­sert sand dunes. A journey full of excitement in the Sahara Desert: the Valley of the Kas­bahs; river valleys containing thousands of palm trees; Stone plains fol­lowed by oasis and adobe villages, powerful fortresses defending the thoroughfares. We will visit the stunningly magnificent TODGHA GORGE. On the way there, we shall stop at a small town built with adobe next to KHORBAT, visitors will be able to learn about this desert community, which is supported by the Europamundo Foundation. (Note: due to weather conditions, such as river flooding, access might not possible at times).We will continue toward ERFOUD. Lunch included. Anyone who wishes to, can go on a field trip to visit the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert (and experience dusk among the dunes).

 

Day 5

ERFOUD - FEZ

 

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Breathtaking landscapes. Discover the medi­eval city of Fes. Dinner included. We will leave Erfoud early, crossing the Atlas between powerful gorges and stunning landscapes. We then cross a high and cold plateau area inhabited by nomadic shepherds. Stop at MIDELT, in the center of this region. After lunch we continue our route towards the Middle Atlas, the landscape changes completely, we are in a region with forests and where it snows frequently in winter. Near AZROU, in the National Park we visit "the house of the cedars", a small museum that illustrates about the region, we will be amused by the colonies of monkeys that inhabit this area. We continue to BHALIL, small and quiet town inhabited by Berbers of the middle Atlas with a very picturesque old city center with colorful streets, traditionally the population lived in caves, today these caves have been integrated into the houses. Continue to FEZ, before going to the hotel we will admire the view of the city from the Saadian tombs. Dinner included.

 

Day 6

FEZ - VOLUBILIS - MOULAY IDRISS - MEKNES

 

We include a visit of FEZ, we enter through the Bronze doors of the Royal Palace, Jewish quarter, its lively souks, the tanners´ quarter. The cultural capital of the country houses the oldest university in the world. The city of Fez was founded in the ninth century and is known for its impressive Medina that preserves like no other the traditional Arab atmosphere. At the end of the visit, lunch included in an old palace of the Medina. After lunch we travel to the archaeological site of VOLUBILIS, declared a World Heritage Site, founded in the third century BC, the city of Volubilis, capital of Mauritania Tingitana, was an important military outpost of the Roman Empire in which multiple monuments of great beauty were erected. Entrance included-. Very close to MULAY IDRIS, holy city and place of pilgrimage for Muslims in Morocco (city closed to non-Muslims until 1912 -until 2005 non-Muslims were not allowed to spend the night-), here is buried Mulay Idris, great-grandson of the prophet Muhammad, founder of the first royal dynasty of Morocco.Continuation to MEKNES, dinner included.

 

Day 7

MEKNES - RABAT - CASABLANCA

 

Visit of MEKNES, another fascinating city declared a World Heritage Site, founded for military purposes in the eleventh century by the Almoravids, was the capital of the kingdom in the time of Sultan Muley Ismaíl (1672-1727), founder of the Alaouite dynasty. This sovereign built an impressive city of Spanish-Moorish style, surrounding it with high walls, marked by monumental doors. We will be astonished by the immense gate of Bab el Mansur, the activity in the square el Hedim (reminiscent of the D, Jemaa square of Marrakesh). We include entrance to the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.After the visit, free time and continuation by motorway; time for lunch in the service area and arrival in RABAT, panoramic tour of the capital of the Kingdom. We visit the powerful fortress of the Oudaia, the Hassan tower where the mausoleum of King Mohamed V is located, the walls of the Andalusians, the outer enclosure of the Royal Palace and the modern quarters of embassies. After our visit, free time and continuation of route.CASABLANCA -Arrival at the end of the day. Dinner included.-

 

Day 8

CASABLANCA - EL JADIDA - SAFI

 

This morning we include a visit with a local guide to get to know the largest city and economic center of Morocco. We will walk through its great avenues; we will walk through the beautiful square of Mohamed V with its fountain Moorish buildings and palm trees and through the park of the Arab league. We also visit little Medina. We include the entrance and visit to the huge mosque of Hassan II (the only mosque in Morocco where non-Muslims are allowed to enter), located next to the sea, with its 210-meter-high minaret with laser lights on top pointing to Mecca. After that a free time for lunch in the pleasant maritime area of "la corniche".After lunch we travel to EL JADIDA, its citadel (Mazagan) has been declared a World Heritage Site. It was built by the Portuguese in the early sixteenth century. Its powerful walls dominating the ocean, its picturesque streets that preserve numerous traces of the Portuguese era -such as the church of the Assumption of Manueline style-, we will stroll and include the entrance to the old cistern of the sixteenth century. We continue to SAFI, arrival in the late afternoon. Dinner included.Note: the old cistern of El Jadida is closed for restoration. It is expected to reopen throughout the season.

 

Day 9

SAFI - ESSAOUIRA - AGADIR

 

With our guide we visit SAFI, this city is known for its production of ceramics, highly demanded throughout Morocco for its quality and bright colors. We will photograph the castle of the sea, the wall with its powerful fortress, we will walk through its attractive Medina and we will visit the "hill of the ceramists" with its many shops. We continue after that towards ESSAUIRA, its walled Medina, facing the sea, has been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The magnificently preserved city is chosen by artists and painters. Free time for lunch and stroll through its narrow streets, whitewashed houses and powerful walls lashed by the waves. After lunch we continue following the Atlantic coast, with magnificent landscapes in some places. A brief stop in TAGHAZOUT, a picturesque small town that lives from fishing and tourists who come to practice surfing. Continuation to AGADIR, arrival, dinner included.

 

Day 10

AGADIR - MARRAKESH

 

Free time during the morning in the most popular destination for "beach tourism" in the country. You can enjoy its immense beaches, stroll along the promenade or go shopping in its many shopping areas.After lunch we continue our route, magnificent highway crossing the Atlas mountain range. MARRAQUECH.End of our services. Please, check the time of your flight in case you might need an additional night.
